Raccoon
  • Home Range: Around 250 acres.
 
  • Food: The raccoon is an omnivore. It will eat birds, eggs of all kinds, crayfish, insects, fish, frogs, mice, wild fruit, corn(particularly sweet corn in the milk stage) and nuts. They will eat the food that is most readily available, including your garbage.
 
  • Mating: Mostly in February
  • Gestation: Typically 63 days. 
 
  • Young born: Late April to early May.
 
  • Number of young: 3 to 4
 
  • Number of litters: 1
 
  • Young independent: Weaned at 8 to 10 weeks. The young may stay with the female as a loosely knit family until the following breeding season.
