Mice

  • House mice are gray or brown rodents with relatively large ears and small eyes.  An adult weighs about 1/2 ounce and is about 2 1/2 to 4 inches long,  not including the 3 to 4 inch tail.

  • Food: Wide variety of foods, but prefer seeds and grains.

  • Mating: Occurs all year.  Sexual maturity is reached at 4 to 8 weeks of age.

  • Gestation: 19 to 21 days

  • Number of young: 5 to 7

  • Number of litters: 6 to 10 per year

  • Nests are constructed of fibrous materials and generally have the appearance of a "ball" of material loosely woven together. These nests are usually 4 to 6 inches in diameter.

  • As long as the food they consume has moisture in it, they do not need access to water.

  • Droppings are ¼ inch long with pointed ends and dark in color.
